Quote: "Years of pondering have bought me no closer to understanding why this city has a field of windmills."
Name: Nakanishi "Shishiro" Shiro
Age: 31
Gender: Male
Height: 6' 3"
Weight: 156 lbs
Appearance: Shiro is not an imposing figure upon first impression, at average height and weight with short (Mind you, barely long enough to still catch in the wind.) black hair that could use the attention of a comb, striking eyes of light blue, and a dashing face which is often graced by a laidback expression that preaches sloth. Even with a visible masculine build adorned with several tattoos, he doesn't seem threatening. However, when standing up straight, with his hair combed and his uniform straightened; he is quite dramatic in appearance. Shiro wears the typical garb of the Zugaikotsu Ronin, as required by government standards. He wears a pair of divided hakama under the excuse that he feels a regular hakama makes is too much like a dress. On each forearm he wears a weighted steel bracer, with matching weighted shin-guards on his lower legs. Shiro wears his wooden badge on the right shoulder of his kimono, strapped in place by a light blue band of cloth. Being left handed, Shiro wears his katana sheath thrust through the right side of his obi. Along Shiro's body are a few scars here and there from past conflicts, but these are hardly noticeable compared to his several tattoos unless under close scrutiny. On his upper back is what resembles a wind-spiral like a tornado or hurricane with the phrase 'Okeru sono Arashi' clearly visible, but swirling through the tornado. On his right shoulder the kanji for number seven is tattooed. Third, is a pair of markings on his lower arms, typically hidden under his armor, that when held side by side (Wrist to wrist and elbow to elbow.) show a picture of Fûjin, the god of wind. Lastly, Shiro's fourth tattoo is a picture of a cartoony, happy, and obviously drunk Tanuki with a gourd of sake wearing a shabby yukata and a pointed straw hat located on his left shoulder. Hanging from Shiro's sash is a netsuke made from a round slab of ebony, about the size of a child's palm, with an inlaid piece of jade carved to resemble some form of large bird. To complete his appearance Shiro wears a pair of slightly elongated waraji, complete with a heel-piece.
Title: "Number 7 of the 99 Zugaikotsu Ronin, Captain Nakanishi Shiro, the Windswept Warrior."
Number: #7
Theme: Wind-based gikou. Mostly offensive with a few defensive and supportive techniques. Shiro's combat is most accented by his incredible speed and energy during combat. He rarely plays defensive, as he only partakes in battles he knows he will win. Shiro's swordsmanship focuses on speed in such a way that most opponents are easily bewildered by his attacks.
Gikou:
1-Reppu: A devastating blast of wind that blasts foes in the direction of it's path launched form the swing of the sword. In first form it goes only about twelve feet with a horizontal range of ninety degrees. In second form the range goes out to twenty-four feet with a horizontal range of one-hundred and eighty degrees. In the final form the range is extended to twenty-eight feet. In the second and third form it is capable of smashing apart bones and even tearing off limbs.
2-Hitofuki: A ridiculously fast dash that delivers a slash aided by momentum. However until used at higher forms it can only be used with some preparation and requires surprise for effective use as a pre-emptive attack. In form two the speed is double and the kinetic energy delivered is capable of severing body parts. In the final form the speed is tripled from the original form and can be used as a non-aggressive move but a simple method of quick transportation.
3-Enmu: Condenses the water vapor in the air and creates a smokescreen over twenty or so feet. This gikou cannot be used in lower forms without moisture in the air. In the third form the fog's range goes up to twenty-five and it can be created without moisture in the air.
4-Kaze: Creates a protective shield of swirling wind that blocks non-magical attacks and weapons not imbued with special energies. People with a weaker SoulBalance cannot pass through the field. In the third form Shiro can create orbs around other locations, insted of just around himself. The field also can be used to a reverse effect, creating a field in which there is no air.
5-Fuyu-dzuki-Natsu: Causes a drop or rise in the air temperature from one-hundred degrees (Fahrenheit) to zero degrees (Fahrenheit) causing freezing or drying out of bodies of fluid.
6-Shippuu: When Shiro forces his tattoo of Fûjin together in form three, it causes a raging maelstrom that spreads over the distance of forty feet to appear. All caught within it's walls are either ripped apart by strong winds, smashed by swirling debris, or tossed high up into the air. There is a five foot vacuum zone around the outer wall of the hurricane. Anything within is likely to be sucked in. The eye of the hurricane is about ten feet in diameter, but amplifies Shiro's control over winded tenfold within it.
Weapon:
Furui-Akuma Katana; Tenkuu Tori (Sky Bird, or 'Sky in the Heart')
Joushou-Seiryoku Katana; Hishou Iyoku (Soaring Ambition, or 'Trifling Desire')
Tenrai-Seiitsu Katana; Okeru sono Arashi (In the Tempest), Okeru sono Arashi is a blade of high speed winds rotating on a set course that can take any length from that of a tanto to that of an odachi. The blade has the ability to disperse and reform at the user's will. With the heightened sense granted to Shiro in the third tier of his weapon he is easily able to detect the length of the blade. The hand guard is shaped in a way that resembles an artistic impression of a cloud. The hilt measures one foot long and embossed on the hilt is a series of designs that resemble a cloudy sky. Attached to the bottom of the hilt is a string with seven prayer beads strung onto it. Each bead bears a kanji inscribed onto it reading 'Fuwa Fuwa'.
Personality: Shiro is often accused of being a lazy individual with no will to work. He spends most of his time just laying about and appearing to do nothing, that is, if he is to be found at all. Shiro lives his life by a few simple rules, one; you will never fail if you never try. Two; the women who aren't interested in you are usually the most interesting. And three; a little sake goes a long way. Aside from being lazy, Shiro has been known to actually get up and break from his schedual (A rare occurance.) to go grab a drink or some udon at one of his favorite resturants, go pick up some dirty novels, or try pick up younger women. Grocery shopping is also on this list, but to a less common extent. While he may seem like a bit of a drunk, he is usually only 'buzzed', and only gets smashed on special occasions. He usually spends most of his time hanging out in the eastern field with the windmills. There he often meditates on his thoughts or trains in some way or another. He tends to appear as if he is on an entire different plane of existence when he is thinking. Conversley, when interacting with others he is very lax and seems to ignore formalities and regardless of another's status he treats everyone with the same low level of respect. He cares about little other then himself and often lets others work while he stands in the back. Even during combat he prefers to avoid fighting. Shiro has a debilitating fear of large bugs, which can be a dangerous advantage for his opposition. While he is unphased by small beetle or two and is careless of flies, larger insects or larger numbers of bugs such as a hill of ants or a big spider causes him to panic. He is renowned among the military forces of the city for his combat skill, although few have seem him actually fight and he hardly ever shows up to work, and causes a bit of an uproar when he has to be dragged to work. As a result he is only forced to work when something big is going on. When he shows up willingly, he does so with full formality. Upon entering a room on such an occasion, his presence demands silence, for the mild individual can become sharp as the blade of a knife. His gaze can pierce someone and instill fear in them. When Shiro is in one of his serious moods not only is he downright scary but there is a higher probability that he will start a fight. In short, his personality is easily comparable to the wind. While most often it is lazy, gentle, and playful in varying manners if there at all, it can be a clearly visible storm swirling around and affecting all in it's path, violently.
History: Shiro was born into an upper class government family. As a child he was given everything he wanted and needed but the actual attention from his parents a young child requires. The older members of his family (His father, mother, uncle, eldest brother and his eldest sister.) were often too busy with their own lives, social gatherings, or government affairs to pay him much mind. Because of these circumstances he was left to the care of the oldest sister of the Nakanishi family brood and the family's servants. Out of his family, he grew closest to his sisters and his younger brother. As he grew older they were the only ones he could confide in. However, as children do, they get older and she was soon drawn into the family's more important affairs and at this age Shiro considered himself 'too cool' to hang out with his younger siblings. With no agreeable human contact at the age of eleven, the spoiled little Shiro packed up and ran away. Shiro was caught only two days into his journey away from home, he hadn't even made it out of the upper-class district when he was picked up by city guards. His family was fairly cross with him when he returned, so to teach him discipline he was shipped off to the military academy where he was forcefully molded into a respectful young man with basic understanding of swordsmanship. Here he also was put through rigorous courses of intense martial arts training and entry-level medical courses. With only a brief stint back home at the age of fifteen he was once again sent out to the military, but this time by his own accord. He proudly gained rank in a program that was drafting children from loyal nobility to train them into a special group of soldiers intended to become personal guards to the emperor. In few years time Shiro had been promoted to captain over the course of the war, in which he proved himself to be a capable warrior that demanded respect. Over the course of the war Shiro turned to the attention of taverns and brothels to help him forget the horrors of battle. Over a short period of time during the war, he began to frequent a single girl at a brothel who had become emotionally attached to him. When he started seeing other girls, the mad woman made a minor pact with demons. Through this turn of events, he ended up sleeping with a succubus while at a brothel. That night had left him infertile and with a very mild depression that would last him the rest of his life. As an adult Shiro is still in touch with his older sister, but rarely communicates with her and has chose to neglect the rest of his family save a letter during the holidays.
