"That is one interesting piece of paper. Draw your sword. Let's see if you're right."
Name: Matsuoka Koyama (Matsuyama)
Age: 29
Gender: Male
Height: 6' 6''
Weight: 182
Appearance:
Matsuyama stands tall in stature with a wiry, muscled build. His hair is a shining dark coppery red that falls about to his chin, if it wasn't put back, as it is. His face has several large scars on the sides of his face as well as on his chin. Matsuyama has golden eyes and sharp, hard features. He wears a standard uniform with parted Hakama. However, over this he wears a huge black great cloak lined with chain mail, the outside covered in shreds. Under his Kimono, shown because of the part in the front, is a breastplate of silver metal. The same silver metal makes up the gauntlets on his wrists, his greaves, his boots, and his chain mail sleeves also under the Kimono. All this help serve the purpose of, at higher sword transformations, making Matsuyama faster at higher levels as he uses his Kane Kaze to push on his own equipment in combat.
Title: Number 21 of the 99 Zugaikotsu Ronin, Squad 11 Lieutenant Matsuoka Koyama, the Neoldian
Number: 21
Theme: Manipulation of metal
Gikou:
1. Kane Kaze (Metal Wind)
The use of this power manifests itself in the form of a kind of telekinetic control over metal, allowing the user to move, push, of warp metal and only metal. At first form, this allows only basic and blunt uses, like throwing a dagger in a single direction with speed. Later on, more finesse and force can be put into it. This ability in often used on the bracers, boots, cloak, breastplate, and blade of the user, allowing him to move faster and with more finesse at each higher level. This basic technique is in many ways what Koyama's fighting style and later Gikou are based on.
2. Metarikku Hei (Metallic Wall)
Metal brought off from the earth raises to trap attacking forces. This is commonly used in the form of metal wrapping around the legs of the foe, trapping them, or in bars of metal in front of a charging force to halt them. At later levels, more metal is brought, allowing more stopping power to be placed on the traps. At the final level, the Gikou conjures from the ore in the ground a serpent of metal that raises from the ground and crushes the enemy, stopping even greatly powerful foes in their tracks.
3. Kirinonai Shi-rudo (Endless Shield)
A small cloud of metal is raised and moved through the air to block oncoming attacks as a compliment to the Kane Kaze manipulation of his great cloak. At the final level, up to 3 of these may be summoned and used at once.
4. Reza-Arashi (Razor Storm)
Aian Hekireki is shattered into thousands of razor blade shards that whip in a 15 foot area around the user with enough force to rip through most armored targets. This move lacks finess however, it is merely a raw release of energy, so the user must take some means to protect themselves from the barely controlled arua of metal. At the final level, the weapon produces even more metal and acts with much more finesse, giving the user more safety, though it can still be deadly to an unprotected character.
5. Shikyo Michisuji (Death Path)
A trail up to 30 feet of razor metal is brought from metal on the battle field into place trailing the sword. This trial follows the path of the sword in a whip like pattern with as much force as the blade has as it swings.
6. Ken Kikansha (Blade Engine)
Koyama melds all the metal on the battle field into one being, most commonly in the shape of an animal or human, creating a devastating war construct whose size depends on the amount of metal on the field. The process takes a few moments to begin, and once the construct is complete, it takes the control of Koyama's body away as his mind posses the construct. This leaves him open to attack, so he usually keeps a fair amount of metal out of the construct to use to defend himself with his Kane Kaze. The golem, being entirely made of metal, is extremely fast and strong because the more metal there is in an object, the easier it is to manipulate. This Gikou is extremely tiring and once it has finished will most likely take him out of the battle.
Drawbacks: All his gikou require metal to be present in some way, so without it, he cannot operate well. In addition, he usually has to progress through his techniques to increase the amount of metal in the area to allow use of higher level techniques. Finally, if you hadn't guessed, most of this does not lend it's self to fighting when allies are present.
Weapon:
Furui-Akuma Katana; Akagane Maunten (Copper Mountain)
In it's first form, the blade is a very pale and dull copper Katana of above average length, with about a 1 foot handle and a 4 foot blade. The back edge is engraved with small black kanji lettering spelling "A sword's edge never wavers. Only he who wields it." In this form, the letter's are scratched, worn, and difficult to read. The hilt is a simple oval shape and the handle is a wrap of tattered cloth.
Joushou-Seiryoku Katana; Aian Hekireki (Iron Thunder)
The blade and handle lengthens to the size of a nodachi, with about a 5 foot blade and a 1 1/2 foot handle. The blade is now iron and has a silvery sheen to it. The blade has a razors edge. The kanji on the back now becomes clearer and more ledgeable. The handles wrap becomes gray and far less tattered.
Tenrai-Seiitsu Katana; Suchi-ru Koujaku (Steel Sparrow)
In it's final form, the sword lengthens to a massive 6 foot blade. The blade changes to an entirely steel sword of master craftsmanship, the edge wickedly sharp. The handle is now perfectly wrapped black cloth, and the hilt is a shifting, moving sheet of black metal dust that moves to guard the hand. The edge is a near white silver, reflecting even the slightest light.
Personality:
Matsuyama, in his seeming obsession with war and metal, may seem slow to some, but in actuality, behind his gold eyes is an intelligent man. His temper his nearly nonexistent, even if he challenges others to duels often. Matsuyama views a contest of metal, or some proof related to it as the only truth. He refuses to take orders from anyone who he doesn't view as worthy to do so, his judge of this being not their victory over him, rather it is how he uses his sword, how he treats it, and how he treats others. He never kills in these fights, though he will never hesitate to kill in an armed conflict. When he is not being serious, he is, to some degree, especially when compared to him when a situation is dangerous, light hearted and joking. His is a sympathetic man to those not able to help themselves, though to those who can but don't he bears little. He holds a disdain for the new emperor because of how he came to power, and Matsuyama does anything he can to spite him, but follows his orders because he realizes the need to defend the kingdom. If an uprising occurred, it is unlikely that he would not join it.
History:
Matsuyama was born to a blacksmith family, grew up a blacksmith, and worked as a blacksmith. In fact, he was born to one of the top blacksmith families of the nation. His family, though he wouldn't know it in his youth, would be one of the families to create the swords for the 99 Ronin. From the time he could walk, he was working with metal. It was a natural step for him to grow up a blacksmith. His family supported him fully in this of course, though they were all usually busy, and he learned much of his life lesson's from his ex-Samuria grandfather, who taught him to fight in the time between his schooling with a tutor.
He continued to grow, and of course, went into blacksmithing. When the war broke out, it found Matsuyama found himself a bit out of lack, because he had just joined the army, for the purposes only of getting tax breaks and being paid by the government, while still doing blacksmithing. After the war broke out, he devoted most of his military training too ways to fight and survive a war. By the time the war was over, he just got out, meaning there was no fighting left to do, disappointing him a little bit. However, as he looked forward to getting back to black Smithing, he was informed that his parents had pulled strings to get him into the bodyguard program. After his posting in squad 11, he was promoted after the military saw some of his combat ability in a skirmish with bandits, as well as his ability to deal with his captain Shiro.
