'The Akuma' is the common name for the demons which roam the Uruwashii Kingdom, and presumably beyond that. They are evil beings that do not hesitate to destroy and leave a wake of sorrow and destruction in their path. They are fierce enemies, usually beyond the skill of a simple city guard. There is no knowledge of where they come from originally or how they are brought into the world, the only known origin of the akuma are the mountains west of the city. However, as a whole, there are a few things certain about all of the akuma;
-If they eat at all, it is known that most devour flesh, regardless of how rank or rotten is or even what creature it comes from. Stronger akuma have been known to eat other, weaker akuma.
-None are to be taken lightly. No matter how weak one of these demons are, there is a good chance they can still kill you.
-There is always a bigger, angrier, and stronger demon.
This thread has been put together as a way to catalog and give information on The Akuma. Among their ranks, there is a visible hierarchy. The highest known point of the hierarchy is the Taishita-Akuma, a great demon who ravaged the land until it was struck down by a mysterious hero. Below them are three levels of Shousa Akuma, each stronger then the previous. The intermediate level is the Karui Akuma, the mass of the demon population. At the bottom of the chain are the minions. The minions are weaker creatures that are appear near stronger akuma.
A great demon who ravaged the Uruwashii Kingdom, other lands may have been besieged by this demon as well, but that is unknown. There is little known of this creature, other then the fact that it's strength is enormous and all currently known akuma obey it. Although the demon is known to be physically dead, as it's rotting skeleton still rests in the mountains to the west, demons have begun to reappear. The Taishita-Akuma was a massive beast, of height assumed to be around fifteen stories high. The Taishita-Akuma was covered from head-to-tail-to-toe in thick bone scales that repelled all of the kingdom's army's weapons. The Taishita-Akuma's head resembled that of a large carnivore from pre-historic times, with a pair of pupil-less eyes, which glowed an acid green color. A pair of massive pointed horns, like those of a bull sprouted from it's head with a pair of long curved tusks protruding from between it's upper and lower mandibles, like a mammoth. It's huge maw was lined with large, curved teeth and a forked tongue, like that of a snake, dripping with saliva waiting to savor it's minuscule prey. It's lower jaw is divided into two hinged-mandibles that are able to move independently. The strange jaw configuration allowed it to open it's mouth to an impractical size (Raising the question, what adversary would possibly need a mouth of that size to bite?). A putrid breath emanates from it's mouth to match it's horrifying appearance, like that of a thousand rotting corpses, could be perceived as early as it's bone-shaking roars, cutting the silence it's presence seems to demand like a knife through rice paper. Down the middle of it's back are large spines poking between the bone-plating all the way down to the tip of it's whip-like prehensile tail. From each of it's spike adorned shoulders, hung it's long and muscled arms, which ended in a human-esque five-fingered hand. Each of it's long fingers bore a large claw, capable of ripping through stone with ease. While commonly on all fours, the beast was able to stand on it's pair of short hind-legs like a human. While each claw was able to move individually on it's back paws, like that of a human, the configuration was closer to that of a reptile, with four facing forward and a fifth claw on the heel. In the middle of it's chest was a large formation of bone which resembled a satanic human-skull with abyssal eyes and a gaping mouth, lined with pointed teeth. It is unknown of what the level of intelligence this scourge possessed, but it was rumored to be capable of speaking in a manner that was borderline understandable. It often crushed other akuma in the fray while smashing and rending it's enemies with a vengeance. It is unknown if this beast was an individual and the most powerful that The Akuma had to offer, or if it was one being of an entire new caste of akuma.
Minions are possibly the dumbest demon ever to be brought into existence. While they bear no arms or no standard appearance, each minion is tied to a larger and more powerful akuma, which it resembles (IE: An akuma in the form of a giant bird will have minions that resemble large blood-thirsty birds from hell.). Minions on their own are a pathetic force, but they tend to appear in masses and swarm their opponent. They harbor no powers but often jump in the way of attacks towards the akuma they take form of to protect it or they serve it some purpose in one way or another. Only Shousa Akuma have been known to have minions.
